KNATCOM Signs 23rd Cycle Performance and Productivity Contract

The Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM) Board, led by Chairman Prof. Mohamed Rajab, signed the 23rd-Cycle Performance and Productivity Contract for the 2026/2027 financial year with KNATCOM Management, led by Acting Secretary-General/CEO Dr. James Njogu.

The signing marks an important milestone in advancing the Commission’s performance and productivity commitments. It aligns KNATCOM’s work with the Government of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Vision 2030.

The signing followed the contract’s vetting and approval, a process spearheaded by the Public Service Performance Management Unit in the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management. The event highlighted the role of performance contracting in strengthening:

  • Accountability and transparency;
  • Efficiency in public service delivery;
  • Implementation of agreed performance indicators; and
  • Alignment of the Commission’s strategy with national priorities.

Through these commitments, KNATCOM aims to deliver quality services effectively and efficiently, improve citizens’ quality of life, and enhance Kenya’s global competitiveness.

The contract provides a framework for delivering efficient and effective services to Kenyans in accordance with the Constitution. It calls on the Commission to adopt systems that promote innovation and enable the public service to respond to citizens’ needs. It will also guide continuous performance improvement and help KNATCOM meet the needs and expectations of the Kenyan people.
