UNESCO–Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture

Call for Applications: 21st UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture

UNESCO is pleased to announce the launch of the call for applications for the 21st edition of the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. The Prize recognizes and rewards outstanding contributions to the promotion, dissemination, and appreciation of Arab art and culture globally, while fostering intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.


About the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize

Established in 1998 in collaboration with the Government of the Emirate of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture honours two laureates each year — which may be individuals, groups, or institutions — whose work has made a significant and lasting impact in advancing knowledge of Arab art, heritage, and cultural expression.

The Prize reflects UNESCO’s commitment to intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity and supports the global dissemination of Arab culture.

Prize Reward

Each laureate of the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture will receive a monetary award of USD 30,000.

Eligibility

  • Individuals with notable contributions to Arab culture
  • Groups or institutions engaged in promotion, research, or dissemination of Arab art and heritage
  • Applicants whose work demonstrates exceptional quality, influence, and reach in enhancing cultural dialogue

Selection is based on artistic, intellectual, historical, or promotional accomplishments that have contributed significantly to the appreciation, understanding, and visibility of Arab cultural expressions worldwide.

Application Procedure

  1. Access the official UNESCO application platform.
  2. Complete the online application or nomination form.
  3. Provide supporting documentation demonstrating the impact and relevance of the work.
  4. Submit all materials before the deadline to ensure a complete application.

Applicants are encouraged to contact the Prize Secretariat for guidance if needed.
