The Kenya National Commission for UNESCO, led by Ag. Secretary General Dr. James Njogu, visited Taita Taveta National Polytechnic on 9th June 2025 in a meaningful engagement aimed at fostering collaboration in education and sustainability. The staff from the Commission met with the management of the school led by the Principal, Mr. Fondo Kalama. During the visit, the KNATCOM staff participated in a symbolic tree-planting exercise, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to environmental conservation. Throughout the school compound, indigenous trees have been planted, a tree nursery using recycled plastic bottles and a banana and mango farm have been established. The team was also taken on a comprehensive tour of the institution, where they interacted with staff and students while gaining insight into the polytechnic’s academic programs, innovations, and infrastructure.
