The Republic of Kenya passed the Access to Information Act on 31st August 2016. The law gives Kenyan citizens the right of access to information held by public entities and relevant public bodies. The provisions of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 provides that every citizen has the right of access to information held by the State, or its agents and information held by another person required for the exercise or protection of any right or fundamental freedom.
The Kenya National Commission for UNESCO complies to this law by providing information that clients seek within the law and ensuring that the public can obtain relevant information held by the Commission.
The Procedure for access to information is as follows:
